Socrates
SocratesThe National Botanical Gardens in Dublin are indeed one of Ireland's treasures and in 2013 Graphic Studio Dublin invited 100 artists to create a print about the gardens. The project was called A Natural Selection and you can find more details here:http://www.anaturalselectiongsd.com/This is how I described my piece:My current body of work marries my fascination with old maps with my love of the architectural detail of Dublin, more specifically Dublin's North-side. It was therefore a pleasant surprise to find a project right at the heart of my current work. In this piece I used a detail of the statue of Socrates and have set it into Mutlow’s map of the Glasnevin Botanic Gardens from 1818.The surrounds the image in a subtle but very deep embossing in white and grey.
